TO DO BIG THINGS

you have to DREAM big.

DREAMER

There are many reasons Shazi understands the importance of a child’s environment on their development. The first comes from her own experience growing up in the Alabama motel her immigrant parents owned. Watching her parents risk everything to build the life they wanted for their family inspired Shazi to become an entrepreneur.

While studying at Columbia Business School, Shazi was inspired by a friend who had to choose between painstakingly making safe, healthy baby food from scratch or choosing the convenient standard jarred options. After throwing herself into the problem—how many childless grad students do you know who spend their free time making baby food?—Shazi launched Happy Family Organics in 2006.

She led it to become the #1 organic baby food company in the US market—democratizing organic food for new families. And then her own new family changed forever.

MEET ZANE

Beautiful, right? The lessons he’s taught Shazi can’t be captured in a single frame. Until age 2, he was developmentally typical. Then an unexpected regression and diagnosis of autism changed the path of Shazi and her family and inspired a new fight to support Zane and all babies in reaching their fullest potential.

MEET ASHA

Humor, creativity, and natural leadership are some of the many reasons Asha is Shazi’s second teacher. She is the beneficiary of Shazi’s research and learnings from Zane–with her life enriched from before she was born to reach her fullest potential.

LIFELONG FIGHTER

After Zane’s Diagnosis, Shazi got to work once again. She poured her energy into discovering as much as she could about our autism epidemic.

“Our family’s experience drives me to address what I believe is our biggest epidemic, that of developmental health. I know empowered parents can proactively affect so much from the inception of life, so my duty is to empower them.”

 IMPASSIONED CHANGEMAKER

In 2021, Shazi founded Healthybaby, the culmination of all learnings her family had gained searching for answers from hundreds of research studies, obstetricians, developmental pediatricians, neurologists, and environmental biologists.

Outside of her company, she continues to be a champion for children, working with the Environmental Working Group and the Happy Family Children’s Village in Tanzania in honor of her father, Amir. Shazi also has a passion for helping budding entrepreneurs shape their own world-changing companies.
